Welcome to the Institute of Materials for Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IWE)

The IWE is one of the thirteen Institutes of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.  
The major area of research is the characterization and modeling of innovative materials and devices in the filed of electrical energy generation in stationary as well as mobile applications.

Head of the Institute is Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ellen Ivers-Tiffée.

Christian Friedrich Schönbein Medal

We congratulate!
Feng Han (FZ Jülich), André Leonide (IWE), Tim van Gestel (FZ Jülich) und Hans Peter Buchkremer (FZ Jülich) have been awarded with the Christian Friedrich Schönbein medal, for their outstanding scientific work „Excellent electrochemical performance with thin YSZ electrolyte for IT-SOFCs“ in the area of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC).
The award took place on friday 2nd july on the 9th European SOFC forum Lucern.
